Phylum Arthropoda

The phylum Arthropoda is the largest phylum of animals.It is the most successful phylum among all.In Latin,"arthropoda" means jointed feet.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT ARE THE FACTORS WHY?

Firstly,it is a triploblastic coelomate which it consist of 3 germ layers(mesoderm,endorm & ectoderm).It has an open circulatory system,body cavity filled with hemocoel(blood-like fluid).Thirdly,body is covered by hard exoskeleton that made of chitin and protein.The function is to give protection from dehydration and adaption for wider range of habitat.

Moreover,it has a paired jointed appendages which divided into segments separated by joints.It allow efficient locomotion and flexible movement.Artropods also has highly efficient respiratory system that directs the air right to the tissues and makes high metabolic rate possible by gills or tracheal system.

Futhermore,it also has highly developed sensory organ such as sense of eyes,hearing,smell,touch,balancing and chemical receptor.They alert small changes in the environment and response rapidly.
